About
Abstract Expressionist Artist
Freeform, spontaneous and organic.
I seek to create visually interesting artwork, exploring gestural movements using music as my muse.
Working primarily with acrylic, pastes, and ink, most of my pieces are unplanned compositions that can start on a frenzied or chaotic path that ultimately leads to a balanced and harmonious composition.
For me, painting is a performative act. I let the mediums take me on a journey of texture, color and light. A feeling, emotion, or more importantly…sound, rhythm and a certain piece of music supports the journey. I create abstract art that allows the viewer to interpret each piece in their own way.
I use acrylic, ink, pencil, fiber paste, thread and other mediums on paper, canvas and wood panels.
Part of my creative process is titling my work when I’m finished. Sometimes a lot of thought goes into it, and sometimes it’s the words that pop into my head when I look at the piece. Mostly, it is a word or two from a song lyric.
Born and raised in Alabama, I am currently located in the Detroit, Michigan area.
